Come all ye and debate The Irish Question and the North East!

Our reading room has popped up once again, this time in Northern Cultural Projects’ Time Warp shop, Eldon Garden, Newcastle NE1 7RA.

This venue will host what promises to be a very lively debate between gifted historical re-enactors The Time Bandits and highly knowledgeable representatives from Tyneside Irish Centre : how did the fight for Irish independence and the subsequent conflicts that surrounded the new state look from the perspective of the North East of England in the years between Easter 1916 and the 1920s? This discussion feels particularly apposite in these days when an Irish hard border is once again a hot topic.

Come along and enjoy a convivial evening among diverse and strongly held opinions: it may well be quite a hooley.
